Magnolia/Kate

We put Magnolia to bed last night with wet hair and this morning we woke up to Kate Gosselin. She totally had had the swoop in the front, and the spikes in the back!

something to remember

I am not very good about noting the funny things that Sawyer does and says, which is the main reason that I actually wanted a blog...I just never get around to writing that stuff down. But yesterday when I was telling this story to some friends they said to make sure and write this down...so here it is:
We were walking through the Trader Joes parking lot when we looked over to see an old lady in an electric wheel chair rolling next to us. Sawyer looks right at her so excited and says "I'll race you!" And just like that he and some seventy year old lady are racing through the parking lot to the entrance of TJ's. I was so embarrassed...luckily she thought it was great and I guess it wasn't as rude as asking why she has weird wrinkly skin, or short hair which he thinks is only for boys.
I have been nervous now for months wondering at what point Sawyer was going to say something that he shouldn't, whether it be politically incorrect, or just too observant. Kids always say things that they shouldn't and he seems to ask way too many questions at times that he shouldn't. I guess he could maybe get this from me too because I always say whatever I am thinking, and a lot of times I should just keep those thoughts to myself!

Easter weekend

My Dad came out for the weekend to see Magnolia, which was nice. He was very helpful with putting up a ceiling fan in Sawyers new room, and it was fun to have family here for the holiday. We usually always spend it in OC so it was nice to have a weekend at home and have General Conference on TV so we could just hang out and enjoy the day.
I left Tyson in charge of the pictures, and so we are missing any of Sawyer with his Easter basket, but we had plenty pictures of him looking for Easter eggs in our front yard. He thought it was so fun and silly that the Easter bunny hid eggs in such funny places like a tire of the car, or in the lights.
Our neighborhood also did an Easter egg hunt on Saturday that was so fun. We didn't get any pictures, but they did an amazing job. They had a pony there for rides for the kids, lots of bounce houses, and a few games. It was really cute...I can't wait to go again next year.

Nana

My Mom left last night, after being here for the past week and a half. Of course we both cried, but I am feeling so much better this time around.
Thank you Mom for taking care of Sawyer during the day, Magnolia at night, making dinner, treats and more treats, cleaning my house, doing multiple loads of laundry a day (I forgot how much laundry a newborn creates), and just being here for it all. I am so lucky to have my Mom...I hope I can do half as good of a job with my kids.

Magnolia's Birth

our Family

Magnolia's birth was so great, at least when talking about a childs birth. I was a little nervous for the hospital experience because I had a little bit of a rough time with Sawyer, but this time made me feel like I could do it all again! I started having contractions about six that morning, and so it worked out perfect that I had a Dr. appointment that morning at ten. He came in and checked me, said I was a 5 and told me to drive straight to the hospital. I went and picked up Tyson and we were on our way, and checked in at noon. My nurse was so sweet and nice, which I think can make all the difference. My Mom got to the hospital about two, and then I got my epidural a few minutes later. At that point I was a 6, but honestly felt pretty good. The nurse kept saying that she felt like I should be in pain, but I was acting like everything was normal. We just sat and waited for me to progress, and at about seven I made Tyson turn the Laker game off and get serious because I knew I needed to start pushing. And then there she was! I got a little emotional this time, I think I got to take it all in more because I wasn't so tired. Then Sarah brought Sawyer right over so that he would get to see her. It was so cute to see him with her. I feel like he was almost more excited than Tyson and I. The next day we came home and she has seriously been a perfect angel ever since. Its crazy how different it has been for me this time. I had a tough time in the beginning with Sawyer, mainly not knowing what to expect and feeling a little inadequate. But, I am already so grateful for the little knowledge I have this time, and how much more relaxed I can be about it all. I can't wait for the next few weeks to see how she will already change.

Magnolia Burk Homec

She's here! Monday, March 29th at 7:21 pm our little Lola was born. She weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces and was 20 inches long. It was a dream labor where I went in about noon, had her not too much later, and then felt good enough to come home the next day. We feel so lucky to have her!

40 weeks

Lola...where are you? Everyday I think she is coming, I get contractions about 3, then they get stronger through the evening...but then after the sleeping pill I take about 10 they go away and I fall asleep. Don't get me wrong I am happy every morning when I wake up to realize that I got another good night sleep, but one day will she ever be ready? I have been dilated to a 3 for the past week and although last week the Dr. told me he thought I would have her by this last Monday or Tuesday at the latest, today he told me that maybe I can hold out until this next Monday. I guess that is all I needed to hear to be able to enjoy this next weekend ahead of me. I did another grocery store run today so that I could have some food in my house, and I am planning another date night for Tyson and I tomorrow. I thought last weekend was sure to be the last one for awhile. I actually feel pretty good so I guess I can't complain. The last 2 weeks I have lost a pound each week so I guess I can hold out a few more days before I have to give up the ice cream and whatever else it is I feel like at the moment.
My next post will definitely be of baby Magnolia so lets hope I don't have to wait another week for that one!

Girlfriends

I am not sure if we made the name up ourselves, or if someone else in High School gave it to us...but we 4 girls were known as the "Girlfriends" back in the day. We were basically inseparable the last 2 years of HS, and have stayed friends ever since. While I was home last weekend we had a girls night at Cafe Rio and then the spectrum. It was so fun to spend a couple of hours chatting and laughing. I am, and have always been, so grateful to have them in my life!

Magnolia's Shower Number 2

Katie went all out for Lola's shower in Orange County. She has been planning and doing things since January...and that is why I love her! For her planned personality, not because she went all out for the shower. She went with a butterfly theme, and everything was absolutely darling! I feel so lucky. Its crazy how much you get supplied with at a shower. I was so stressed a few weeks ago about not having anything for this little girl, and now I feel overloaded...thank you to everyone!

I didn't get many pictures because I forgot to give someone my camera, but at least we have a few.

I got some of the great food...sandwiches, salads, cupcakes, cookies and diet coke

a few more of the decor

Magnolia's first showering of LOVE

Lillie threw Me and Lola a really great shower last week. It was mostly ladies from my ward, but Lee Ann came down for it, and my Mom ended up surprising me and coming too. It was so fun. I got some great gifts, and ate some yummy food!
Thanks Lillie!

I can't even believe that I am posting these pictures of myself...like my face is not so scary swollen! But I needed to at least capture one of my feelings of JOY with Lillie. And then below is me, Karley and Roxanne. All due within a few weeks of each other.

One more Month

I am 36 weeks today...and if the baby came don't ask me what I would do. Her room is almost done, although she won't even sleep in there first. I haven't got her a single outfit in 0-3 months, I haven't bought a single diaper yet, and I don't keep wipes on hand anymore. Luckily, I guess, I also haven't had any feeling like she would be coming anytime soon.
I sure forgot in the past 3 1/2 years what it feels like to be at this point. I am so tired I think I could nap everyday if Sawyer let me. I want to eat Chocolate Malted Crunch ice cream every night. I look forward to bed time everyday, but hate lying there and being so uncomfortable. I want to clean weird cabinets and closets that I haven't touched since we moved in 2 years ago. I am a little bratty to Tyson, or should I be honest and say a lot! I have gained 29 pounds...30 last week, but I lost one this week. I was so excited when the nurse told me that, and then she looked at me like I should not be happy. As if the baby really needs that extra pound. I am sure it and some more will be back by next week.
All in all I just can't really fathom that I am about to have another one.

Incredible

Yesterday afternoon Sawyer went to Brinley's Birthday party at a Princess place. Of course they had to accommodate the boys too, but I definitely didn't expect to see Sawyer come home like this. Looking like a character from The Incredible's.
The whole situation was heaven... it was Sawyer's first party where you just drop of the kids, so I was so excited to have almost 2 hours to myself. Then about 2 hours before the party I was informed that it wasn't at her house like I thought it was, and that it was clear across town. Karley offered to drive the kids and Tara was picking up...so all of the sudden I had 3 hours to myself on a Saturday afternoon. It's amazing how much you can get done in 3 hours without children.
The best part really was going to answer the door and seeing Sawyer all decked out like this. It was so cute. He ran straight to the mirror and thought he never looked better. He even had his nails painted blue, because he's a boy.
So fun! I totally want to have his party there next year.

my LOVES, or at least some of them

Most importantly:

~my husband, mainly for loving me. Last night we saw Valentines Day, and in the beginning Ashton says something about the best advice he ever got was to marry the person you date that is better than you...I feel like I got lucky and married up!

~my sweet son. How did I get so lucky to have a 3 year old that tells me multiple times a day how much he loves me and how beautiful I am, or how beautiful something on me is. He is the almost perfect child. Sometimes we have our moments, but mainly he is so well behaved I worry about my next one.

~my family. I don't think a day goes by that I don't talk to my Mom on the phone. I love that I have such a good relationship with both my parents and siblings. My favorite times are when I can be with all of my family.

~the gospel. I have always been grateful to be a member of the church...but I feel like the older I get the more I love the life that I live, and the choices I make usually stem from my testimony. I can't imagine not having Christ in my life with all of the little daily struggles.

A few other Randoms, in no particular order:

~Diet coke
~Cinnamon Bears, or any cinnamon candy
~Shoes
~Baking
~Girls nights during the week, and Date nights on the weekends
~Holidays
~When Katie does my hair
~Cafe Rio
~TV, there are too many shows to act like I just love one
~Nail Polish
~Laying out
~Anything Coconut
~Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer
~Christmas Music
~Trips where I pack a bathingsuit
and obviously many more...these are just the first that came to my head.

Sawyers Valentine

If Sawyer was old enough to really understand this whole Valentines Day thing I am sure that he would be out trying to romance Mila. Maybe in a few years when he is like 8 he will be like Manny from Modern Family and do something romantic or funny. But, for now he just wants to play with Mila all day everyday, and she is basically always the topic of conversation if it isn't about Scooby Doo. I don't know if it is that she is a year younger than him and will therefor do about anything he asks, but either way I love it and think its really cute.

a sneaky peak

Last week my amazing Mom came out to help me paint Magnolia's room, and she didn't come empty handed. She brought out all of my bedding that she made for me. I LOVE it! Thank goodness for a Mom that knows how to do everything and anything. When will I learn to be a little more like her?
So we painted the room in 4 hours, because yes its small. In the pictures it looks really "orangey", but its not. Its the prefect pink that I copied from Nicole. And I had gotten those flower decals so that I could put them up right when I was done painting. Of course the instructions had to come with a warning to not apply to wet walls. I was supposed to wait 30 days. Well obviously that was not going to happen...but I did wait patiently for a whole week. I figure I live in a desert and so the walls dry quicker here.

More pictures to come when the room is finished, but I still have a bright blue lamp shade in the room, and a wall that needs something...so stay tuned for the rest.
