Family Night...with the Ruckers

Sawyer thought that you eat the candy right when they give it to you...
and sometimes even the wrapper

Nate got a little impatient with the carving knife and decided to get out his power tools

My pumpkin (a Skull), Tyson's, Nate's and Syd's

We had a fun night at our ward Trunk-or-Treat. I was anxious to see is Sawyer would actually want to wear his monkey costume when that meant something covering his head and hands, but he seemed to love the whole idea. He felt very comfortable saying trick or treat, and thoroughly enjoyed that he got candy from it. He did get a little nervous seeing some of the costumes of the other kids so we will see how he does on actual Halloween. The next night we carved pumpkins which I of course loved. Sawyer did not get into it like I thought that he would, but instead messed up all of the Rucker's things while I was busy carving away. Its has been years since I have carved a pumpkin and I am already excited for what I will do next year.

Exercise

So this afternoon Sawyer woke up from his nap while I was in the middle of Desperate Housewives from last night. He immediately was asking to watch Barnyard, the movie, and so being the good, attentive mother that I am took him upstairs to watch his show. I left my Tracy Anderson mat workout on top of the DVD player because its usually what I keep in the player. After I finished my show I went in my room to finish getting ready to run some errands. When I went upstairs to get Sawyer this is how I found him... he had somehow opened the DVD player, put Tracy in, and not only got it to start, but decided to do some working out with her. When I got to the top of the stairs he told me "Exercise Mom!" I have never laughed harder, and he seemed very in his element. Maybe this can become our mother/son bonding time everyday.

Pumpkin Patch

Although Sawyer is only 2 (almost), I decided that I wanted to start some traditions for the Holidays that will hopefully make for some good memories. One, to decorate sugar cookies...my favorite! I love making different colors of frosting for the different parts of the cookie, and Sawyer loved eating the candy corns and sprinkles to put on top. The other fun thing for the week was the Pumpkin Patch. As we were driving there Sawyer decided he wanted to go to Disneyland, and even thought I felt pressure from both he and Tyson I couldn't waiver in my wanting for a Fall, especially since I live in the desert. I wished for jeans and sweaters, but in the 90 degree weather we walked around the pumpkin grounds and Sawyer got to ride a little pony, and feed some very hungry animals. It was just what I was hoping for, except for the warm weather of course.

Weekend Away

We got to go to orange county this weekend to be with my family and celebrate my Dad's birthday. My parents babysat Sawyer on Friday night so that Tyson and I could have a night alone at Disneyland, which was so fun. We haven't been able to get any adult rides in lately. Tyler and Kim came down too so Saturday and Sunday were just hanging out and eating days. It's always so fun to be with the family, and it makes me sad when it's time to come back to real life. And Sawyer loves the attention that he gets from my parents. He knows if we are at Nana and Papa's house that means donuts, the park, and seeing the horses. I also caught my Dad feeding him donuts and ice cream for lunch and dinner... Sawyer couldn't have been happier or more hyper. Happy Birthday Dad... We love you!

Back to my roots...

So after going back and forth all week I decided to go back to my red hair. I am freaking out a little because I have been the same blond for four years now. I never do well with change, but sometimes need to force myself to do something out of my ordinary. We'll see how long it lasts.

Disneyland

So we decided to join the rest of Orange County and get annual passes to Disneyland. I didn't know how much Sawyer would LOVE it until we actually went. In the past month we have been 6 times, conquered Pirates of the Caribbean and multiple rides on dumbo, the rockets, the tiki room, monsters inc., mickey's clubhouse, and the carousel. Sawyer asks if we can go almost everyday, and is constantly singing... YO HO YO HO, a pirates life for me.

Welcome to Blogging!

So I have finally decided to start a blog. I have such mixed emotions... the pressure that I will feel keeping up with posts and what not, but the excitement over being better at keeping up with family and friends. Enjoy!
